FAMINE SONG (ARCHIVE)

Research, Archive
At the group exhibition A TABLE in Bündner Kunstmuseum Chur, 2025, I was presenting a stereo sound installation based on the FAMINE SONG ARCHIVE. It results from collaborations with people from diverse cultural backgrounds who teached me a (traditional) song that, in the broadest sense, deals with a lack of food, with hunger, or famine. The learning process was recorded and composed into this first stereo audio piece. The work aims to emphasize that famine is politically motivated, deliberately used as a form of oppression, or even, as in current conflicts, intentionally employed as a military weapon. The work approaches this topic through the practice of listening, learning, and amplifying voices.
